BBC East Sports Awards December 2011

On Thursday 8th December, Ex-Star Club member Tim Foster was presented with the Sporting Legend award at the BBC Look East's Sports Awards 2011, held at the University of Bedford.

Tim Foster MBE, Olympic Coach and Olympic Gold Medal winning rower flew into Britain following an invitation to attend the awards ceremony and was presented with the surprise award.

Few Olympians have made the transition from athlete to coach as smoothly as Tim. After achieving his goal of winning a gold medal as part of the never to be forgotten Coxless Four at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, Tim retired from international rowing. He transferred straight into coaching with the GB team before joining the UK Sport-sponsored Elite Coach Programme in 2004. In 2007, he became the Head Coach of the Swiss National Rowing Team, who he coaches to World and European Championships, ultimately aiming for the London Olympics 2012.
